Death came unexpected on an important evening or morning; the 1st january of 1953. On his way to a concert in Canton, Ohio Hank Williams slipped away lying in the back of his car, a light blue Cadillac cabriolet. Charles Carr, by then 17 years old and an aquaintance from Montgomery AL., drove the country-star through the night hoping to arrive in time in Canton OH. During a stop at a gasstation they discovered that Hank Williams was dead and the nearest hospital in Oak Hill WVa could only confirm this fact.
The official death certificate states that Hank Williams died because of an 'acute ventricular dilation'.
